Street Fighter, designed by Takashi Nishiyama and Hiroshi Matsumoto, made its debut in arcades, in 1987. In this game, the player takes control of martial artist Ryu, who competes in a worldwide martial arts tournament, spanning five countries and 10 opponents. A second player can join in at any time and take control of Ryu’s American rival, Ken.
The player can only perform three types of punch and kick attacks, each varying in speed and strength, and three special attacks: the Hadouken, Shoryuken, and Tatsumaki Senpukyaku. These are performed by executing special button combinations with the controls.
The fighters did not have many special moves and did not have A great playing appeal.
Back in the early days games were not as advanced as they are in the 21st century so I guess it was just the way gaming world was.
Street Fighter was ported to many popular home computer systems of the time, like the PC. In 1988, it was released on the NEC Avenue TurboGrafx-CD console under the name Fighting Street
The original street fighter did not find its fame and fortune from this arcade version of the game then the latter installment of the streetfighter games such as streetfighter 2 and so on.
Having only two of the well known characters ryu and ken did not have a great appeal to gamers around the
world, but had great improvement as the years went by.
Street have series have gone from strength to strenth , It’s amazing how technology has advanced.
Street fighter will always remain one of the best games of all time , faded away but not forgotten.
